Handwoven Men's Kente Batakari Fugu Smock | One Size (S-XL) - Natural

Genuine high quality handwoven African Kente smock tunic known as 'Batakari' or 'fugu', worn by the men and women of Northern Ghana. Each smock is one of a kind, uniquely designed with a minimalist embroidered neckline and two pockets.

What makes this design special is its twill weave structure and striped design, which is distinctive to the Kente of Northern Ghana. This tightly woven style distinguishes it from the thicker thread weave style.

Batakari smocks are incredibly versatile and great for layering. Men can wear it over a long or short sleeved shirt, top, vest or simply wear it on its own. Women, grab a belt and wear it as a short dress, or pair it with shorts, leggings or formal trousers. Perfect for formal wear, weddings and traditional events, or dress it down for casual wear with a difference!

Production technique: The smock is made from hand-loomed strips woven by master artisans using traditional African weaving methods. The strips are then hand stitched together to give the smock a plaid-like appearance.
